The telescopic truncheon originated from the short club. Another widely used pendulum design is the mechanical pendulum. When the swing rod is thrown from the rod body, the mechanical swing rod maintains the shape of the short rod by means of an internal mechanical lock. Unlike a drag swing bar, it requires a hammer head to contract. There is a button on the handle of the joystick that can be gently pressed to recover. The design also allows the mechanical pendulum rod to expand, move or push, but the resistance pendulum rod cannot expand due to shrinkage.

In 2018, a new equipment standard for individual soldiers was formulated and implemented, among which the telescopic batons were replaced by mechanical batons. It is understood that the new telescopic batons are designed directly from gas products, with technical documentation provided by tactical equipment manufacturer gas, and are produced to uniform standards in many factories.
